Today, at approximately 8:20 a.m., Bandera High School was placed in a Secure and Hold at the recommendation of the Bandera County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office notified Bandera ISD administration of a report involving an individual climbing a fence behind Bandera High School. While there was no reported threat to Bandera High School, Bandera ISD, or our students and staff, this precautionary measure was taken out of an abundance of caution due to the proximity of the reported activity to our campus.
Law enforcement promptly responded, secured the campus perimeter, and conducted a thorough search of the campus to ensure the safety of students and staff. At approximately 8:42 a.m., the Bandera County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the campus was secure and advised district administration that the Secure and Hold could be lifted.
The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We sincerely appreciate the Bandera County Sheriff's Office for its quick response, thorough efforts, and continued partnership in keeping our schools safe.
Thank you to our students, staff, and families for your patience, understanding, and cooperation.
Thank you,
Gary Bitzkie
Bandera ISD Superintendent
